ALL ABOUT BARBIE

I don’t know if I was a particularly girly girl on the outside. I didn’t spend time dressing as one princess or another, glued to every prince and princess tale, although I do remember secretly wanting to be all glitter and fairies and I have to admit now as I walk passed Tutus, Fairy Princess Stories and any other glitz that catches my eye I crack a smile thinking about whether my daughter will be into all of these things….because if she is mommy is ready to get out that bedazzler and glitter glue!

ALMOST VALENTINE’S DAY

So looks like this year I’ll be filming on location for Valentine’s Day with Pregnant in Heels but then again my husband and I have never really been ones to celebrate it….I know I know, can you believe it?! No bouquet of Roses or boxes full of chocolates for moi! But it really doesn’t mean that Valentine’s Day isn’t still very special. For me it means arts and crafts and cupcakes with the kids and it doesn’t get much better than that in my book!

AND THE ENVELOPE SAYS….

Envelope

So it’s almost that time in my pregnancy when my hubby and I can find out whether we are having a girl or a boy.  It such a big, exciting decision for couples deciding whether they want to find out or not and if they do how.  I am a big believer in doing whatever makes you feel like the experience of pregnancy and becoming a parent is even more…

BEEF ANYONE?

steak and kale

So I’m not exactly the type to usually tuck into a beef burger but after my last prenatal visit I might have to think otherwise!  At one’s end of first trimester appointment most are tested for anemia and usually the results come back with no alarm bells sounding.  However as pregnant women head further into their pregnancies and their blood volume expands

CANDY + COSTUMES…

Jack o lantern

My toddler was ridiculously excited for Halloween.  So much so that when he changed his mind from wanting to be Superman to Batman I got online late at night and had rush delivered a new costume so that he wouldn’t be disappointed.   As I picked him up from school he threw himself into my arms and dived directly into my bag to make sure I’d brought both his costume and his pumpkin basket for all the candy collection we would be doing.

SWEET BOOKS OR GRUESOME TALES?

Peter Rabbit Cup and Saucer

One of my favorite things to do at the end of a crazy day is to climb into bed with my 3 year old and read him bedtime stories before he goes to sleep.  We are both usually so tired that we fall asleep before we ever get to a third book and my husband has to wake me for dinner, but those moments together reading through the pages, laughing, skipping back and forth from book to book are some of the best.

I DON’T KNOW

So the news is out and now you all know I’m expecting again!  It has been so hard not to tell you all over the last weeks as I have wanted to share my every thought with you all and am so excited that I can now finally talk about it. I wanted to talk about something deeply personal, something I am, well, tossing and turning around in my mind:  Whether or not to try labor without medication.  Non-medicated births are certainly on the rise, if not dramatically in practice certainly at the forefront of many of the pregnant women’s minds that I meet every day.

OVER THE MOON!

Well my lovelies, I am so pleased to tell you all that the news is true; I am indeed expecting my third child and due next year.

After all the fertility struggles I experienced getting pregnant with baby Wellington I can hardly believe that I am pregnant again so soon and what a surprise, the very best surprise I could ever get.  As you all know we are shooting Season 2 of Pregnant in heels (although I am definitely Pregnant in flats right now), so hopefully you’ll get to follow me on this amazing journey on each episode.

Halloween Traditions

Toffee Apples

So with the rumblings of Halloween everywhere I was reminded yesterday of the somewhat bizarre and of course twisted Halloween traditions I grew up with in England.  I was walking my son home from school and he said mommy “clap your hands”.  I did and out popped this tremendously scary skull out of a bucket.  I can’t tell you how much I screamed and then realized this was part of the lovely decorations put up for Halloween.  The amount my son laughed though reminded me of Halloween while growing up in England. I enjoyed them thoroughly, though looking back they were completely twisted and morbid!

MY SURVIVAL GUIDE – BIRTHDAY PARTIES

RED VELVET BEET CUPCAKE

It is natural as parents to want our children to enjoy themselves as much as possible.  And when more than at their birthday party?!  All this stress and pressure to have a good time can often lead to tears and frustration, and I don’t just mean for your toddler (I think I’ve cried for one reason or another at just about every party I’ve had)!
